Our Surgeons

Pawsitive Mobility takes utmost pride in the caliber and dedication of our collaborating surgeons. Under the leadership of the esteemed Dr Ajit Bholla, they surpass our expectations with every animal they assist. Without them, our organisation will be able to do the important work we do and all the animals we have helped thus far would have been either living in immense pain or would have passed on without a fighting chance.

Dr Ajit Bholla

Dr Ajit Bholla joined Brackenhurst Vet in 2014 and has since become the owner and guardian of the Brackenhurst Vet name. He has a big heart for animals, a brilliant mind for medical cases and vast surgical expertise.

His passion for excellence and innovation has propelled the practice to many exciting new advancements in veterinary care and service provision, while his aptitude as a leader has built an amazing team of dedicated individuals. He is married to a fellow vet and enjoys unwinding from a long day with a game of golf or a glass of good whiskey.

Dr Roxanne Mavride

Dr Roxanne Mavrides joined the Brackenhurst Vet team as a locum after completing her studies in 2014. Her dedication and ability to work under pressure earned her a permanent position the following year. Since then she has been tirelessly serving the cats and dogs of Alberton with great passion and commitment. She now draws from a wealth of experience in clinical cases and a great attention to detail that ensures all patients receive the best possible care. She is happily married with a son and four fur babies and enjoys spending her minimal free time pursuing her love for dancing.

Dr Cheri Lee Dos Reis

Dr Cheri-lee Dos Reis returned to her Joburg South roots in January 2022, slotting so seamlessly into the Brackenhurst Vet team that it was like she had always been a part of it. Her unwavering commitment to her colleagues and her deep care for each clinical case quickly won over staff and clients alike. She is a hard worker and consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty. She has great surgery ambitions and an unquenchable desire to better her knowledge and skills in all areas of veterinary life. She has a huge love for Great Danes and would have a house full of them if they didn’t eat so much. Her spare time is filled with knitting and crocheting, and falling asleep in front of the TV.

Dr Candice Ehlers

Dr Candice Ehlers began her career as a mixed practice vet in Mpumalanga, but later gave up livestock and small-town life to return to her city roots. She has a keen interest and aptitude for surgery, but also enjoys applying her analytical mind to clinical cases. She never backs down from a challenge and is always keen to add new skill sets to her current repertoire. She puts great value in work-life balance and enjoys getting her adrenaline fix in the great outdoors while rock climbing and mountain biking.

She has been volunteering at various animal welfare organisations since high school, and has been a director and committee member for two major NPOs in the Alberton area. She has been active in managing various feral cat colonies and volunteering at outreaches in indigent communities. Samanta is driven by a calling to assist vulnerable, neglected, and abused animals, and to ensure domestic companions have all their physical, emotional, and mental needs met.

Dr Alley Hartley

Dr Alley Hartley is originally from Hout Bay, but after a harrowing rural Limpopo community service, she chose the Brackenhurst Vet family as her new place to settle. Her vibrant and bubbly personality add great colour and light to the practice, while her earnest dedication to her patients and keen mind for clinical cases make her a valuable member of the team. She is good at rising to meet a challenge and having a firm hand in difficult situations. Her biggest soft spot is for kittens but her passion extends to all the furry creatures that cross her path. She is the owner of two pugs and enjoys running to relieve stress and allow her to eat more cookies.
